What is the Classical Marimba League?
Founded in 2003, the Classical Marimba League asks one simple question...
What would the world have been like had the marimba existed in the days of the early masters, such as J.S. Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Johannes Brahms?
Through two unique annual competitions, the organization seeks to promote the advancement of the marimba in the classical arena while also promoting the careers and emerging composers and marimba artists from all over the world. The CML focuses its efforts on the inspiration of renaissance of melodic styles of music for the marimba while avoiding a mere pastiche. The Classical Marimba League endeavors to establish a legacy of marimba music that honors the notable styles of the past within the creative expression of the present age.
