2008 Composition Competition Winners
The Classical Marimba League congratulates the winners of the 2008 International Composition Competition! Four 1st Prize winners were selected from applicants hailing from 10 different countries. Two compositions were awarded Honorable Mention.

Romantic - Kit Mills (Oak Harbor, WA) for "Three European Folk Songs"
Impressionism - Chin-Cheng Lin (Taiwan) for "Flyology"
Tonal 21st Century - Casey Cangelosi (Houston, TX) for "Two Characters"

The CML is proud to present the 2008 award winners. The 1st Prize winners will have their works commercially published by C. Alan Publications. All winning works will also receive premier performances by the participating schools of music during the 2008-2009 concert season.
Information about the 2008 1st Prize Winners
Leander Kaiser, winner of the Classical category, wrote Minotaurus 4.3 for Marimba Solo. This work will be performed at the University of Minnesota, Ithaca College, & Indiana Wesleyan University.
Kit Mills, winner of the Romantic category, wrote Three European Folksongs for Marimba Group [1 marimba, 6 hands]. The movements are based on French, English, and Spanish tunes. This work will be performed at Samford University, the University of North Carolina at Pembroke, & Oklahoma City University.
Chin-Cheng Lin, winner of the Impressionism category, wrote Flyology for Marimba & Piano. This work will be performed at Ohio University, University of Arizona, & Italy PAS.
Casey Cangelosi, winner of the Tonal 21st Century category, wrote Two Characters for Marimba Solo. This work will be performed at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Texas A&M University-Commerce, & Mississippi State University.
Information about the Honorable Mention Winners
Casey Cangelosi, awarded an Honorable Mention in the Impressionism category, wrote Viscosity for Marimba Solo. This work will be performed at Ohio University, University of Missouri-Columbia, & the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Australia.
Nils Rohwer & Jens Schliecker, awarded an Honorable Mention in the Tonal 21st Century category, wrote ConcorDance for Marimba & Piano. This work will be performed at the University of Minnesota, & Ithaca College.
